Practical frameworks for modern authors, drawn from real publishing work

These tools are not generic templates or surface-level downloads.

They are excerpts and adaptations from the same systems we use with authors inside Modern Author OS and Modern Publishing OS, designed to help you make progress before committing to a full program.

We publish fewer resources on purpose. Each one exists because it consistently helps authors move forward.

Book Launch Builder

Design your announcement, presale, and early reader strategy, before your book is published.

The Book Launch Builder is a structured planning system that helps you:

  • Design a clear announcement strategy
  • Identify your first 200–300 readers
  • Build early momentum without relying on ads or algorithms
  • Align your book with long-term business goals

This tool is especially useful if you’re early in the writing process and want to ensure your book has an audience waiting for it.

Positioning Foundations (Selected Exercises)

Clarify who your book is for, why it matters now, and where it fits.
These short exercises are adapted from our internal positioning workbooks and are designed to help you:

  • Define a specific reader (not “everyone”)
  • Identify the category your book competes in
  • Articulate the tension or idea your book resolves
  • Avoid writing a book that’s clear, but forgettable

This is the work most authors skip, and the reason many books never gain traction.

How to Use These Tools

These resources are not meant to be completed all at once.

We recommend:

  1. Starting with the tool that addresses your biggest bottleneck
  2. Using it slowly and intentionally
  3. Noticing where clarity increases, and where questions remain

Those questions are usually the signal that a larger system or editorial support would help.

Want a Complete System?

These tools are helpful on their own.

They become far more powerful when integrated into a full operating system.

If you’re exploring how to turn your book into a serious asset, we’re happy to talk.

All tools reflect Manuscripts’ author-led, editor-driven, and author-owned approach to publishing.
